NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 1 summer position and 1 fall/winter position
RATE OF PAY: $16.55$17.50/ hr as per Student Financial Services guidelines.
EMPLOYMENT TERM: Summer 2024 (May 6, 2024 through August 30, 2024) with possibility of renewal for Fall/Winter 2024-25
HOURS OF WORK: Summer term = 14-21 hours per week, typically 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (3:30 p.m. on Fridays). Fall/Winter term = 10-12 hours per week.
LOCATION: The position will be primarily an on-campus role at Keele campus with some virtual work scheduled to align with operational needs of the office.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Special Project Assistant / Web site and Social Media Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support for special projects and activities and for supporting communications activities in the unit. Specifically, the successful candidate will support digital communications between ACMAPS and our target audience of mature, part-time and transfer students, which may include edits to web sites, updating of central event databases, and generating and sharing social media posts using a variety of social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Twitter, Facebook).
About Mature Student Success - The Atkinson Centre for Mature and Part-Time Students provides a wide range of mature student supports, including annual Orientation events, the Mature Student First-Year Experience Program, peer-to-peer mentoring, and various student success workshops. We are committed to supporting the success of mature, part-time and transfer students from admission through graduation.
Under the direction of a permanent staff member the Special Projects Assistant may be responsible for some or all the following tasks:
- Support the planning and organization of special projects and activities.
- Prepares and disseminate meeting agendas and supporting information.
- Take meeting minutes, record actionable items and ensure appropriate follow-up
- Distribute project plans and track progress.
- Research, present ideas and make recommendations for special projects.
- Format, word process and edit a variety of documents and materials.
- Attend and participate in regular team meetings.
- Provide general administrative support.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
³§°ì¾±±ô±ô²õ a²Ô»å Q³Ü²¹±ô¾±´Ú¾±³¦²¹³Ù¾±´Ç²Ô²õ &²Ô²ú²õ±è;
- Knowledge of campus and 51³Ô¹ÏÍø resources, including academic, social, safety, health, cultural and others and able to refer students as appropriate.
- Demonstrated leadership ability.
- Knowledge of York’s services and resources for students.
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Ability to connect with others across differences of culture, experience, identity etc.
- Strong organizational and time management skills and good attention to detail.
- Ability and willingness to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Eagerness to learn and take initiative.
- Proficient with MS Office such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Professional, punctual, and reliable.
- Able to maintain confidentiality and keep accurate and detailed records.

Must be enrolled as a York student. Previous work experience may be considered.
MANDATORY TRAINING DATES:
Relevant and required training will be assigned and completed as part of the working hours of the job.
